In our dedication to providing the best possible optometric care for Southern Ontario residents, we have created a reliable, trusted team of optometrists who are dedicated to our patients. Each team member has undergone extensive training and has worked with many different patients, assessing their specific needs and providing the highest possible level of care.
Who We Are
Fervaha Eye Care is a group of highly experienced, friendly, and dedicated optometrists providing comprehensive eye care in Barrie and the surrounding area, from Newmarket to Alliston, Gravenhurst, Midland, Orillia, and Orangeville. Our team features optometrists that are highly respected in the industry and have undergone comprehensive training and education to provide the best possible eye care for our patients.
All of our optometrists have received highly advanced training and experience from some of the top institutions in Canada and the United States. We have dedicated our lives to helping patients see the world colourfully and brightly, and we continue to do so through further education and regular training. It’s our duty to stay on top of the latest innovations and technologies to keep you up to date, cared for, and informed.
Dr. Manraj S. Fervaha
Optometrist
Dr. Manraj Fervaha was born and raised in the Greater Toronto Area. He completed his bachelor’s degree in Honours biomedical sciences at the University of Waterloo. He always had a passion for helping others and found that pursuing optometry would provide a fulfilling career.
Dr. Fervaha then completed his Doctor of Optometry at the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago where he graduated with Cum Laude honors. He was given the opportunity to rotate through various clinics including the Alfred and Sara Rosenbloom Center in Chicago, the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA and the Ophthalmic Consultants of Connecticut. In recognition of his academic achievements he was selected to be part of the Tomb & Key Honors and Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honors Society.
During his clinical experience, Dr. Fervaha gained diverse experience in advanced care and ocular disease management. Furthermore, he has extensive experience in surgical co-management, pediatric eye exams and contact lens fittings. He has completed thousands of eye exams and is able to communicate fluently in English and Punjabi. Dr. Fervaha is a proud member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists and is in good standing with the College of Optometrists of Ontario.
In his free time, Dr. Fervaha enjoys playing basketball, watching sports and travelling to different destinations with his wife.
Dr. Fervaha is passionate about eye care and always strives to place a strong emphasis on patient education and patient care.
Dr. Amrit Bilkhu
Optometrist
Dr. Bilkhu grew up in Brampton, Ontario and obtained her Bachelors of Science degree at Wilfrid Laurier University. She graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry in 2019 where she was awarded Colleague of the Year, Clinical Honors Recognition, and the Dr. H.J. Luckhardt Memorial Scholarship. She completed externships focusing on ocular disease management in Chicago, Los Angeles, and Daytona.
Dr. Bilkhu then completed a Vision Therapy and Rehabilitation residency at UC Berkeley School of Optometry. Throughout her residency education, Dr. Bilkhu managed patients with amblyopia, strabismus, binocular vision dysfunction, concussion, and vision-related learning challenges.
After her residency, Dr. Bilkhu moved back to the Greater Toronto Area to serve her community, providing optometric services to families in Brampton, Bolton, and Vaughan.
In addition, Dr. Bilkhu is the creator of the popular optometry podcast, Four Eyes. She interviews influential optometrists and ophthalmologists who are making a difference in the profession, and shares her optometric clinical knowledge along with her co-hosts. In her spare time, she enjoys watching comedy shows, traveling, and finding ‘hole-in-the-wall’ eateries!
Dr. Sundeep Singh Padwal
Optometrist
Dr. Sundeep Padwal graduated from McMaster University with an Honours BSc in Life Sciences in 2011. He then attended Aston University in Birmingham, UK to pursue his Optometry degree. During his final year of studies, he completed his Ophthalmology rotations at the University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire.
After completing his Optometry degree in 2015, Dr. Padwal worked in South West England for one and a half years. He then returned home and attended the University of Waterloo to complete the International Optometric Bridging Program in 2018.
Dr. Padwal is passionate about patient care and his clinical areas of interest include dry eye and ocular disease. He also enjoys pediatric eye exams. Dr. Padwal is a member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists (OAO) and the Canadian Association of Optometrists (CAO).
Outside the clinic, Dr. Padwal enjoys sports, outdoor activities, and travelling.

We offer comprehensive eye exams for children and adults, LASIK/refractive treatment co-management, dry eye treatment, and more.
Our team is trained to look for and diagnose specific details that go beyond the surface of a sight test, such as ocular damage and nerve issues. Often, these eye issues can be the first step in a diagnosis of another health issue, such as diabetes or high blood pressure. With our services, you can catch these issues before they become worse or get in the way of your daily life.

Doctor Bilkhu has to be the most thorough doctor I’ve encountered. She was professional, friendly and most importantly, she explained everything she was doing as she was doing it. After she was done, she referred me to a specialist, she didn’t rush me out but made me feel like I mattered and could actually ask her anything regarding my situation. The doctor was very kind and knowledgeable while doing my eye exam. He explained what he was doing and made the experience very easy. He even took a moment to look at my baby’s eyes (without me asking). Also, the optician, Kelsey, was extremely helpful in finding me a pair of glasses that fit my face. I've always had a great experience buying glasses at this location, the staff are super friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Jan 27th 2023:Dr. Pooja Thareja is best optometrist I have had in my life and I am 63 years old and have had several doctors. Today I had to return for follow up with Dr. Thareja on cataract was diagnosed with months ago as was blind in right eye and did not seem right. Dr. Thareja as usual was so caring and professional and attentive to every detail is unbelievable!!!After thorough detailed exam she found cataract had progressed to retinal detachment and she could see 2 tears in retina and as expected she jumped into action and within two hours managed to get me appointment with opthalmologist in Orillia hospital to assess how severe this is and if surgery be needed sooner than later. Jessa the optician in Theodore and Pringle Zehrs is also amazing assistant to Dr. Thareja.Best decision ever made was starting with Theodore and Pringle in Zehrs stores and having picked the one with Dr. Pooja Thareja!!! Dr Thareja is a very patient and professional optometrist who values her customers. The front desk staff are exceptional as well.

We took our 4 year old here for his first ever eye exam. They were absolutely amazing with him. He was fidgety, upset, and cranky, but they were so patient and kind with him. Would definitely recommend to others.

Extremely pleasant experience at the Barrie Cundles Road location this morning. Dr. Fervaha is a very personable, pleasant young man. Although we had not met before, i instantly felt at ease and felt complete trust. He explained exactly what was going on with my eyes and made recommendations that made perfect sense for my age and lifestyle. He made me feel very comfortable. Between he and Teresa, if I could give 10 stars I would! Highly recommend.

This is the second time I have dealt with the staff at the zhers optical centre at the Yonge st. Location. Excellent focus on my eye in depth analysis and everything explained in detail. Gave quality time in checking all aspects of my eye health. Gave me updated status of my glaucoma, cataract and its impact on my new prescription .Best eye exam ever, have seen many eye specialist but Dr Fervaha is the best. Highly recommended.
